Match with roast lamb with sour cherry reduction.

Once again we sampled some mouth watering wines from around Australia.

 

 

  • 2001 Tower Estate Semillon (Museum Release), Hunter Valley

 

Around $45 a bottle.

Would pair well with fish (flounder) or soft cheeses.

 

  • 2007 Long Flat Cabernet Merlot, 1Litre B-Pak, Hunter Valley.

 

Around $10 a bottle.

This B-Pak (popper style) bottle is ideal for traveling and picnics. 

 

  • 2005 Frankland Estate, Smith Cullam Shiraz Cabernet, Western Australia.

 

Around $45 a bottle.

This organic wine would be delicious with a rare rack of lamb and some root vegetables.

 

  • 2006 Langhorne Creek, Metala, Shiraz Cabernet, South Australia.

 

  Around $14 a bottle.

      Paired nicely with the chocolate and violet fudge!

Anna joined us from Wine Odyssey Australia and brought along some wines from the Hunter Region to

celebrate the Hunter Valley Food & Wine Month.

Good with the shoulder of pork, will also match Brie & seafood.

Gus, from The Wine Society, brought in some brilliant wine blends to taste and match to our food.

  •  2005 Bleasdale “Frank Potts” Red Blend. Langhorne Creek South Australia.
This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot.
Around $28 a bottle.

  •   Campbells Rutherglen Muscat.
Sweet wine, with hints of caramel and raisins.
Around $18 a bottle

  •  2005 Taylors Jaraman Shiraz.
Blend from Clare Valley and Mclaren Vale South Australia.
Around $28 a bottle.

Region: Italy.

Note: Light, refreshing and unpretentious, with delicate notes ofpear, apple and citrus. Delicious!

Food: Fresh prawns with lemon wedges.

Region: Spain.

Note: Clean and vibrant, with exceptional purity of fruit. Fresh tropical fruit flavours dominate this Spanish Verdelho, with a zesty acid finish.
